CFOTD stands for Celebrity Fansite of the Day. Every day we pick one celebrity whose birthday it is, one website worth a visit and a new round of Guess Who. We also keep a directory of fan-made sites, checked by hand.
Where the facts come from
Birth dates, birthplaces, nationalities, occupations, official websites and social accounts come from Wikidata, the free knowledge base behind Wikipedia. We only list people whose exact birth date is recorded there. Ages are worked out fresh every day from the birth date.
We cover about 8,800 of the best-known actors, singers, musicians, rappers, comedians, TV hosts, models, YouTubers, film directors and athletes, ranked by how many Wikimedia sites, mostly Wikipedia language editions, have a page about them. For stars born since 2000 we lower that bar a little, because younger stars have had less time to build up pages, and we add newer stars after they turn 18. We leave out politicians, religious figures, adult performers and anyone under 18. We also leave out a small number of people best known for crimes or abuse cases, because a birthday page is a celebration.

Every photo is from Wikimedia Commons under a free license (public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA). The photographer and license are credited on each celebrity page. If there is no free photo, we show initials instead.
Website of the day
When we have fan-run sites in the directory, one of them is the Fansite of the Day. Until then, and on days without one, we feature the official website of the day’s best-known birthday star, taken from Wikidata.
Fansites
Every fansite is checked by a person before it is listed. We list fan-run sites with real content and leave out spam, copied content, gossip about private lives and fake merchandise. Submit your fansite.
Fan posts
Birthday wishes and reviews are read before they appear. We do not publish personal attacks, private information or anything hateful.

Wikidata is edited by volunteers and is sometimes wrong. If a birthday or detail looks off, tell us with the page link and we will check it.
